Pakistan to face Arch Rivals India

Pakistan will now face India U19 on Tuesday, 4 February, in the first semi-final. The venue of the high voltage India vs Pakistan will be Potchefstroom.

What Happened in the 4th Quarter-Final?

Huraira, the 17-year-old opener from Sialkot, top-scored with 64 off 76 balls. He was mankaded by Noor Ahmad in the 28th over of Pakistan’s run-chase. The mode of dismissal called “Mankad” is legal but against the spirit of Cricket.

Pakistan’s chase began with a bang as Hurraira was in an aggressive mood. The right-hander hit 8 fours and 1 six. He made full use of a dropped-catch opportunity earlier in his innings.

His opening partner Haider Ali hit 5 belligerent fours in his innings of 34-ball 28. Ali got run out. The opening duo added 61 runs for the first wicket.

Captain Rohail Nazir added 56 for the 2nd wicket with Huraira. The skipper was dismissed by Noor who made 35-ball 22.

Pakistan broke the losing streak against Afghanistan at the U19 Level

Pakistan had lost their last four completed matches against Afghanistan. Pakistan’s losing streak started in November 2017 which stretched to U19 Cricket World Cup matches. At one stage, it looked the losing streak would further stretch as Pakistan U19 lost three wickets for 10 runs. The score slipped from 117 for 1 to 127 for 4 but green shirts get their ship to the shore.

However, an unbeaten 63-run partnership between Qasim Akram (25 off 41) and Mohammad Haris (29 off 43) took Pakistan home. Pakistan U19 chased the target with 53 balls to spare.
